Final Fantasy 7 Remake: 10 Story Changes That Have Already Happened

9. Seeing Aerith's Capture

Final fantasy 7 remake
Square Enix

As the party climbs the Sector 7 pillar in the original, Aerith is tasked with taking Barret's daughter Marlene to safety. The next time we see her, we discover that Aerith has been captured by Tseng, a member of the Turks.

This all happens off-screen, but the remake is changing that.

The trailer shown at TGS 2019 shows this event from Aerith's point of view, as she and Marlene witness Tseng's arrival with Shinra in tow. This departure from the original may seem small, but it opens up some interesting possibilities.

It's possible that we'll get to play as Aerith in this sequence, putting her into direct conflict with Shinra. This would go a long way in both showing Aerith's true potential, as well as showing just how much Shinra wants to have Aerith under their control.

It would soften the damsel in distress trope, but also keep Shinra dangerous.

A win-win situation.
