Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Every Confirmed & Leaked Detail We Know
7. Cross-Dressing Cloud Is Still A Thing
The remake is set to take a much darker, mature and overall better translated tone than its PS1 forebear, but Nomura has promised that won't mean it's entirely excised of levity, as was the case with the unbearably po-faced Final Fantasy XIII. That means the Gold Saucer amusement park will stay standing, chocobo racing is a given, and Cait Sith won't be nastily killed off (at least, until the story dictates it).
Notably, Nomura confirmed that the early-game quest during which protagonist Cloud must cross-dress to impress a crime boss has definitely made the cut, despite the fact the sequence played out for laughs in a way that came across outdated at best, borderline transphobic at worst.
The director, perhaps missing the point of the question, urged fans to "please look forward" to the modern take. If the intent and execution are handled with appropriate sensitivity, this could be a shining beacon for video game inclusion.
If not, and it's just a broad overhaul to fit with the game's new-found grittiness, expect a ream of relevant post-mortems to follow.
