Final Fantasy 7 Remake Review - 6 Ups & 5 Downs

3. Realising Midgar In An Interactive, Geographically Mapped Space

final fantasy 7

It may seem like a tiny detail to newcomers, but being able to actually pan the camera around and "breathe in" a fully realised, fully rendered city of Midgar, is a massive positive. It's an engaging and memorable locale even for newcomers, and later in the game you'll unlock a series of fast travel points that get you around everything Square have designed in one giant playspace.

Separated by corridors, these "hubs" are replete with everything from optional challenge to a combat arena, secret item vendors, music tracks to collect and many other things to take in.

Being able to run from Aerith's church allll the way down to Wall Market is a fan-pleasing inclusion many will be glad to see, and it lays out just how many new assets Square Enix built for this remake.
