Final Fantasy 7 Remake Sequel - 10 Bold Predictions
1. Red XIII, Yuffie And Cait Sith, But Not Cid Or Vincent
One of the biggest disappointments of the remake to many was the fact that Red XIII only appears as a guest character, with players unable to take control of him directly.
It is perfectly understandable as to why he wasn’t included given the effort that would’ve been needed to give him an equipment and ability set equal in volume to Cloud, Barret, Tifa and Aeris for just a handful of battles. He seems like a dead cert to be playable from the off in Part II, however.
Yuffie is an optional character in the original game, but she’ll probably be mandatory this time around and used to flesh out the story around the Mythril Mines. Her status as a ninja should result in fast-paced combat comparable to Tifa in speed, but with the added range that comes from her throw abilities.
Finally, Cait Sith made a cameo in the remake. Assuming he appears in the Gold Saucer once more, the avatar of Shinra executive Reeve Tuesti is anyone’s guess playstyle wise. Making him a tank would certainly make sense size-wise.
If the story terminates at Rocket Town, then like Red in Part I it may be too late to do Cid justice, which is a shame given his fan favourite status as a character. The acquisition and origins of Vincent, meanwhile, will probably be more fleshed out than the original game’s optional quest and done properly in an expanded chapter down the road.
