21. Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus
One of the many spin-offs that came out after Square Enix suddenly decided to cash in on the FFVII name, Dirge of Cerberus is a big disappointment. Unlike most games on this list, DoC isn't an RPG, but an action third-person shooter with RPG elements. It still makes this list due to the FFVII relation. DoC wasn't that good as an action game anyway, but its most glaring fault was trying to portray its setting as being more important than that of FFVII (we all know better). A major mistake any sequel can make is to downplay the original. DoC attempts that but still fails at execution. This wasn't a fun return to Midgar and its surroundings. Hopefully Square Enix learnt from this experience. For the most part, all direct sequels that have been made to FF games are worse than its predecessor. This being the worst of them all. They should really start putting more effort into direct sequels.
