More than any other game in the series, Final Fantasy XV seems focused on the journey itself. The bulk of the game will be made up of a lengthy road trip across the vast world, with a large number of events to experience along the way. Final Fantasy XV takes place in large, open world environments. Most locations are filled with patrolling enemies and monsters, which are capable of ambushing the player. It's possible to just walk to your various destinations, but players are encouraged to make use of the car. Square Enix have confirmed that the car can be driven manually or put on autopilot, making it possible to stop and get out at any point during the journey. The group of four friends that make up the party will interact along the way, serving to enhance character development much in the same way the elevators in Mass Effect did. This emphasis on a journey, combined with the 'group of friends on an adventure' format, seems perfectly suited to the Final Fantasy style of RPG - hopefully making Final Fantasy XV a road trip to remember.
