Final Fantasy XV: 6 Ups & 8 Downs

7. Main Questline Is Too Short & Too Easy

Though there is an absolute wealth of content here that allows players to invest hundreds of hours into the game, for those who were hoping for a sizable core questline as well, you're going to be sorely disappointed.

The main quest can be comfortably beaten in under 20 hours, aided by the fact that EXP is plentiful throughout and you can easily get to the end of the game without needing to do any side content or grinding at all.

Conspiring with the short length is the incredibly forgiving difficulty. Even when Noctis' HP hits zero, he'll be thrown into a "danger" state, where he can use potions to revive himself, and even if he fails to do that, he can just use a phoenix down to come back from the dead.

There's also a much-hyped boss fight that has been significantly nerfed from earlier gameplay previews, and basically ends up feeling more like a drawn-out QTE event than a traditional FF boss fight. You'll know it when you see it.

On one hand, it makes the game very accessible for more casual players, but it also makes it feel a bit "dumbed down" in some areas. Perhaps Square Enix should patch in a Hard difficulty setting in the future.

Still, those used to 30-40 hour main quests in previous games that required strategy and planning will be very surprised at how much of a breeze this game is.
