Final Fantasy XV: 9 Big Changes You Need To Know About
8. Summons Are Old School
Summons are a Final Fantasy staple as old as the franchise itself, but the way they're presented in XV is an entirely new beast. You'll acquire several summons as you progress through the game, and - as seen by footage released so far - you'll have to fight and defeat at least some of them before they'll join your crew. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the new summons is their sheer size; both Odin and Ramuh appear to be taller than most skyscrapers and extremely formidable. Unlike FFXIII's Eidolons, which temporarily replaced your party and allowed direct control, it appears as if XV's summons are similar to the earlier games', with the player able to call upon an entity who will then execute a per-ordained move against opponents in the near vicinity. Case in point is Episode Duscae's Ramuh summon, which bring down the wrath of the series-staple thunder god in spectacular fashion. If the rest of the summons look this incredible, this is something to be excited about.
