Where possible, it’s often a good idea to stay clear of squares which can easily be attacked by the enemy, at least during the opening turns.

Tapping the 'Danger Area' button at the bottom of the screen will bring up a handy red overlay, which shows you exactly which squares the enemy can currently attack on their next turn. Remember, though, that this may be affected by walls or by the current position of your units, so it can change if you move your Heroes or the walls in question are destroyed.

If the enemy has a specific character that you want to keep a close watch on (a particularly threatening damage-dealer, for example), performing a long-press on that unit will display a range indicator for that specific Hero, which will stay visible until you activate it for another unit or turn it off again.

Unfortunately, in some scenarios the opponent will refuse to move until you place at least one unit within their range of attack. In those cases, you’ll have to judge which of your Heroes can best withstand the enemy initiation.
