Five Years Later: 10 Things You Learn Replaying Batman: Arkham Knight

6. The Tank Sections Can Actually Be Enjoyable (In Small Doses)

One of the most widely derided aspects of the game upon launch, the Batmobile was what everyone knew they wanted until they got it. The combat sections were lambasted by fans for being out of character for Batman and the Cobra tank battles were singled out in particular for the boring, hit-and-run style they forced players into.

Somehow the concept of 'stealth' didn't translate very well to a giant rocket-firing tank.

However, what was overlooked was that the more standard battles featuring the unmanned drones were actually surprisingly enjoyable. Rocksteady did a good job of creating enough different enemy types to force the player to continuously change their tactics, and once fully upgraded, players were given a strong arsenal of weapons to use. The final battle outside the GCPD is one of the few moments in the game where it genuinely feels like you're taking part in the "war" Batman refers to at the start of the game. Taking out 10 enemies at once with your fully upgraded missile barrage truly does make you feel like you can take on the entire world.

Just the less said about those Cobra battles the better...
