Football Manager 2013: 9 Improvements We Want to See

4. Scout Reports For The Upcoming Opposition

When you receive a scout report for the upcoming opposition, it doesn't really give you a lot of detail. We want to know more than just what formation they play and what type of goals they score and concede. We want to know what type of mentality they usually play with, if they have a high line of defense, etc. It would also be great if the scout showed you the best possible formation and player setup for the next game. The scouts could also tell certain players in your squad to focus on certain weaknesses of the opponent. I know this should be the managers job but it could save a lot of time because the manager would have to go through every player and do it manually. The opposition instructions could be improved by the scouts knowing more because currently, the assistant manager or the manager controls it and I presume most people have a formula or just guess.

5. Training

The training system needs a revamp. It has been extremely similar every year and there isn't really much you can do with it. There are limited options as to what/how you can actually train and finding a good formula is incredible hard. Even when you do find a good formula, it is hard to see many benefits except fitness to your squad. A good idea would be to include actual training routines and exercises which you can choose from such as taking free kicks from a certain distance over and over again to increase the players ability to take free kicks. That is quite a simple idea but could be expanded on and limited to stop people abusing it.
