Football Manager 2013 Demo: 10 Improvements That Guarantee Excellence

8. Training

On the note of coaches, training within FM 2013 has also had a big boost and is not only easier to use but less time consuming also. Now offered in a more simplified overview panel, it combines a variety of the training features at once and allows for more detailed training when building up to a game. This can be delegated to backroom staff if you€™d prefer, or you can set a particular focus leading up to a match. This can be done several weeks ahead of where you are, so if you have a spare few minutes whilst waiting for dinner to be made or your friend to finalise that transfer deal, then it€™s something you can tidy up. Linking into the point I made about the improved user interface, coaching is a much clearer affair and I found it easier to implement the changes in training than in previous games. Players can now be trained for a particular role, so if you want to turn Johan Djourou into a €˜Ball Playing Defender€™ you can, or at least you can set the wheels in motion. Like previous games, the stats of each player will affect how well they respond to specific coaching, but I must admit that in this case with Johan I won€™t hold my breath. However if you can find a hidden gem somewhere who€™s currently a left back but who feel could make the transition to the left wing (a la Gareth Bale) then I€™m sure with the right determination and coaching you can help them reach their potential. http://youtu.be/hWcmDIbC0wI
