Football Manager 2014: 11 Wonderkids You Must Watch Out For

11. Adam Campbell - Newcastle United

Adam Campbell Fm13Nationality: English Position: ST/AMR The New: Michael Owen If you're a fan of Newcastle United, chances are you will be all too aware of the painful inevitability of the expectations that come attached to any new young striker at the club. Brought up on a diet of Alan Shearer, or before him Malcolm MacDonald, Jackie Milburn and Hughie Gallacher, Toon fans imagine giant boots for any prospect to fill, and unfortunately the reality in recent years has been for bright young things to develop into Reserve Team stalwarts, and then to move on to pastures new with only a handful of first team appearances on the bench. But, as FM13 players who chose Newcastle will know, teenage forward Adam Campbell, who is highly rated enough in real life to warrant a first team squad place and who appeared in the Europa League last year, was the real deal in the game at least. Given a massive potential rating by SI Games, Campbell was quick, and rapidly progressed into a high scoring forward, with a tiny initial price of around £600k thanks to his age, and the potential to score between 15-20 league goals every season within a few years. If SI give Campbell similar stats to last year - and there's nothing suggesting they won't since he hasn't royally messed up his real career at Newcastle in any way, then he should be one of the first names you look at when seeking to bolster your attacking options early in the game.
