Football Manager 2014: 6 Opening Impressions That Prove It's The Best Yet
5. New Player Roles
As football is always changing, FM have added a number of new player roles to the game to keep up with the ongoing evolution of positions. False nine, regista, and enganche are just some of the new additions to player roles that FM14 features. You are also given a five-star rating for how suitable the player is to the role you've chosen. Users had to previously settle compromising certain roles as they didn't have the specific instructions they wanted, but now FM can cater to their every need. However, when selecting the role, certain player instructions will be made unavailable automatically if they are deemed to be contradictory to what said role would require of a player - for example a ball-winning midfielder doesn't have the option to 'dribble more' or 'dribble less'. Many people love to mimic current tactics used by the top sides in the world, and now FM has caught up with all the new emerging player roles, they can successfully duplicate them to great effect. Barcelona fans can finally use Lionel Messi as a 'false nine' who drops deep to collect a pass - leaving the opposing defender the choice to either follow and leave a gap in behind, or drop off and risk giving the player time to pick out a killer pass or get a shot away. Manchester United supporters can utilise Wayne Rooney in a similar fashion and PSG with Zlatan Ibrahimovic etc.
