Football Manager 2016: 10 Essential Fan Demands It Must Include

9. Develop Rivalries

Manchester United-Liverpool, Sunderland-Newcastle, Celtic-Rangers, Arsenal-Spurs, Liverpool-Everton. Some derbies will never go away; they're set in stone and will always be the first fixtures that fans look for when the lists are released. They should be a huge deal in Football Manager too, with new rivalries developing over time, whether that be through competition, player-poaching or bad-blood between warring managers. There would have to be a balance, as not every title challenger automatically nurtures a huge hatred of another club, but in a similar way as Chelsea-Liverpool have done in the real world since Fernando Torres' switch, rivalries could be born. Years into the game, old history could be brought up from past games, and there could be more than just a 'confidence bar' to indicate how the fans are feeling. Why not bring in fanzines, features, interviews, and polls with fans to recreate the build up to a real derby game?
