Football Manager 2019: 10 New Features On Our Early Wishlist
2. Meddling Owners
Some Football Manager fans have called for the introduction of a 'chairman mode' in the game, and while this might be a bit dry with a focus on business affairs over footballing matters, there's scope for owners to have a more impactful role in FM19.
Interactions with your chairman are one dimensional. If you meet your season expectations and avoid flirting with other clubs, everything stays hunky dory, but in real-life, a manager's relationship with the club's hierarchy is often more complex.
Many a head coach has had to deal with meddling owners, chairmen who insist on having a say in footballing matters. Many have attempted to influence everything from team selection, to recruitment, yet this has never been reflected in FM.
Interfering chairmen would be an interesting inclusion in FM19, giving players something to think about before they put pen to paper at a new club. A hot-headed owner who attempts to bring in his own backroom staff and players would add extra challenge as well as authenticity to the game, not to mention personality.
