Football Manager 2020: 10 Essential Fan Demands It Must Include

9. A Smoother Match Engine

This one is an undoubted no-brainer of a change that needs to be made for Football Manager 2020.

For those of us old enough to remember “proper” football, you’ll remember when FM was known as Championship Manager and was a purely text-based game. From there, the series evolved to allow you to see 2D dots running around a pitch, before then becoming the 3D marvel that we see in the recent games.

The problem is, since really finding its 3D feet, the FM match engine has stagnated. As glitch after glitch runs wild, the 3D engine has a habit of showing your players doing the opposite of what you’ve instructed them to do. Similarly, the animation gets annoyingly repetitive.

We know that there’s not much FM can do to top a 3D view of your matches in real-time, but Sports Interactive can at least iron out the bugs rampaging through its current match engine.
