Football Manager 2022: 10 Goalkeeper Wonderkids You Must Sign
7. Julen Agirrezabala (Athletic Bilbao B)
We go across the border from Portugal to Spain for our next entry, Bilbao's young keeper Julen Agirrezabala.
While Gomes was the youngest, Agirrezabala is the second-oldest player included in this list, having been born on Boxing Day of 2000. Naturally, that means that he is more developed as a player than anyone we mentioned so far, even though he hasn't had a lot of first-team football. He's only made four appearances for the Basques, conceding five goals and keeping just one clean sheet.
But we are not here to talk about real life, we are here to talk about Football Manager. In the game, Agirrezabala is already fairly developed and his goalkeeping profile is beginning to crystallize. He is a mentally tough, brave, and commanding player who excels at controlling his box and organising his defence.
His passing and technique are on a good level, but where he lacks is in the physical segment. He has decent pace, but his 7-rated strength makes him easy to bully when in close-contact situations. That's not a good sign, especially since physical attributes are notoriously hard to improve by training.
However, the other parts of his game have a lot of potential and he could definitely have a place in a big team. Bilbao have a reputation for producing young talent, which possibly inflates Agirrezabala's price a little, but he is still very gettable, in the range of £5.6 - 17 million.
