For Honor: 9 Major Complaints & Issues Ubisoft Have Fixed
8. Fixing Gear Score
One of the problems that became increasingly more apparent as the life of For Honor went on, was the system known as 'gear score'. It's essentially the combined rank of each of your pieces of gear, that accumulate into your character's gear score. It's largely representative of your stats, and acts as the baseline for the quality of your character without factoring in your skill.
The problem, was that the way gear score and reputation worked often meant that you often found yourself facing characters with far higher score levels than you. If you have a high overall reputation level and want to start learning a new character, chances are you'll be paired with a player who has the same reputation level but a higher gear score, immediately giving them the advantage.
Ubisoft are now rolling out an update for the new season which completely overhauls gear score, making it so that higher level gear has diminishing returns, giving new players and characters a fair chance against higher level opponents. It will also add a degree of depth to the system and will make it far more versatile, allowing for more complex builds.
