Fortnite 2 Season 3 - 10 Tweaks It NEEDS To Stay On Top
1. Skill Based Matchmaking
Skill based matchmaking is potentially the most controversial issue of the moment, having been met with both joy and despair since its introduction. While the intention is good, levelling out the playing field for casual and top of the pops pro players alike, these restrictions come with their own problems.
On a basic level, the function is theoretically sound. Enter a game full of mixed abilities and eventually a top class player will bring about your demise. Enter a game full of players of an equal footing and you have a decent chance of clinching that elusive Victory Royale.
While the function was welcomed by those of lesser skill, highly skilled players have reacted with great animosity. The reason? It has removed their ability to play for fun. Instead every match they enter is packed with 99 other top notch players, making each round ultra competitive. First world problems, eh!? True, but Fortnite is meant to be fun, no matter how good you are.
Happily, though, the answer seems obvious. Give players the ability to pick their battles and choose the method by which their lobby is formed. Here’s hoping a new season will bring about more choice.
