Fortnite 2 Season 3 - 10 Tweaks It NEEDS To Stay On Top
9. Bloom
What is bloom? Why is bloom? These are the questions I often ask myself when trading bullets on Fortnite… or trying to…
The answer? Bloom is the weapon-subjective mechanic that involves a specific area, around the focal point of your aim, within which your bullets spray. A more accurate gun and a less frequent fire rate will result in smaller bloom and higher accuracy.
Why is bloom is another question entirely and if we're honest, we don’t know for certain. The best theories revolve around adding realism to the game or preventing a player from being struck with every shot fired, thus prolonging response time and reducing the risk of instant elimination. Both solid ideas, but one can’t help feeling that fundamentally, bloom hinders skill.
Since the removal of aim assist, bloom's certainly become more conspicuous and players have adapted in response but even so, when you aim at something, you expect it to hit. If the skill is the ability to aim and you can see the crosshairs directly over your target, why shouldn’t you be rewarded with the sweet ping of shield coming off?
So, if you’re listening, Epic, maybe it could be slightly less erratic?
