Fortnite Battle Royale: 12 Crucial Tips & Tricks The Game Doesn't Tell You
10. How Traps Work
With Battle Royale being a separate standalone to the full zombie survival edition of Fortnite, its building tutorial is nowhere to be found. The game will tell you on the control screen that you have access to traps - but what are they?
Contrary to the assumption brought about by so many individual wood, metal or brick materials, you don't actually craft them. Instead, traps are located around the edges of the map, or otherwise have a very rare drop-rate, but they are things you pick up.
Even when you do find them, traps consist of things like pneumatic spike-walls or a killing jolt of electricity - but take note: You can usually only place them on walls or ceilings YOU create. Simply hold square/X whilst in the build menu and you'll get the option to set one up.
One particularly devious tactic is to hack away and demolish a chunk of any structure, then replace the floor with a set of hidden spikes. Close the door leading to this new area and let another player wander in...
Simple pleasures.
