Friday The 13th Game Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs
2. Genuinely Innovative Premise
Friday the 13th is genuinely innovative as a product. It's a crazy, multiplayer-only survival based thriller based on one of the biggest horror franchises in history. That's never really been done before and it's something the game should definitely be recognised for.
Yes, there are many different games out there that let you try and outwit and survive an oncoming threat but none of them feature locations and characters based on films. The last notable game that attempted a four against one gameplay style was Evolve, and this game has arguably fared better already.
The fact of the matter is, Friday the 13th actually does feel like a well thought out and enjoyable experience because the premise of the game is absolutely terrific.
When all of the pieces fall into place and you get a good team together, the game can be an extremely thrilling ride that has laughs, screams, and cheers. The biggest factor that lets it down is how buggy the game is, and how difficult getting all of those pieces together can be.
In time, Friday the 13th will be recognised as a great multiplayer experience unlike any other. The only problem is: when?
