13. Mirror's Edge: Catalyst
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nS5Cq2sV3JU Face-kicking a string of goons never looked this good, as the cult-success of Mirror's Edge forever made it one of EA's hidden gems, the new 60 frames-per-second Catalyst will hopefully ensnare an even wider audience into its charms. Playing again as Faith Connors, Catalyst feels more like EA doubling down on everything that worked about the original, refining the animation, the feel of transitioning from ground to wall and back again - and making sure any close-quarters encounters (although best avoided) are brutal and environmentally-interactive. That means kicking dudes straight through plate glass windows like some sci-fi King Leonidas, evading gunfire by getting your Trinity on and darting up the walls, or just leaping out across a neon skyline into the night. In short, the perfect sci-fi setting with some of the most immediately satisfying gameplay tropes ever put to code. Bring it on.
