Gamescom 2019: 10 Announcements That Would BREAK The Internet

8. Death Stranding Officially Announced As Multi-Platform

A rumour that's only just gained traction - but which has apparently been floating around since May - is that Death Stranding, Sony's biggest 2019 exclusive, might not be an exclusive after all.

A couple of eagle-eyed commenters noticed that the title has been de-listed as an exclusive over on Resetera, leading many to speculate that the game could be coming to other platforms.

While Sony have been very keen so far to market the title as an exclusive, with the game itself being an integral part of the console's marketing over the past year, it would make sense for it to be "multi-platform" through PC and PS4.

Sony don't own developers Kojima Productions, and second-party titles in the past have released on PC and PS4 at launch, such as Street Fighter V, Nier: Automata and Ni No Kuni 2. While a now-deleted Q&A from 2015 with the studio claimed the game would indeed be coming to PC after a period of exclusivity on PlayStation, why was it listed as a "true exclusive" this whole time, only for various PlayStation updates to remove it?

Death Stranding is going to take centre stage at Gamescom, and with it could come the announcement that it's launching on other platforms.
