Gears 5 Review: The Best One Yet?

From start to finish every aspect of Gear 5 is an improvement from 4, form the gameplay, to the story and just how beautiful it looks. If the is the true swan song for the Xbox One then it is a great way to go out. It really does feel like the people at the Coalition really care about the Gears series going forward and with them being lead by Rod Fergusson, the future only seems to look brighter as we move toward Gears 6.

This game shows that a franchise can move in a new direction when it comes to the core series and that it doesn't have to be locked into its past trappings forever. Unlike with Halo 5 that did nothing for that series and has all, but forced a somewhat soft reboot going forward.

So does Gear 5 do enough to bring the franchise back as a powerhouse for Microsoft and the Xbox brand? I can safely say that yes, yes it does and not only that, this might be the best it gets for the franchise.
