Gears Of War 4 Review: 7 Ups & 7 Downs

5. Horde 3.0 Is Ridiculously Addictive

Gears Of War 4 Horde
The Coalition

The one area of the game that feels the most innovated is Horde Mode, which introduces a clever class system that enhances strategy, while the appearance of a machine called a fabricator allows players to essentially print weapons and fortifications to fend off enemies.

If each player pulls off their class duties well, your five-man team will be a well-oiled machine and make it far before inevitably being cut down. At once Horde 3.0 gives the player the most control but also feels the most frantic and lightning-paced of the lot.

Don't be surprised if you find yourself devoting tens of hours to Horde Mode while basically playing the campaign once and never looking back.
