For the most part the new game engine that's going to be powering pretty much anything that needs explosions and character models with a million pixels or more going forward has been shown behind closed doors - in-motion anyway. What's emerged from the occasional tech demo and fan-mod of existing games is that everything looks incredible. The shot above was reportedly taken by one Flickr video game photographer K-Putts from a working demo, and you can only imagine how well this sort of tech will apply to the world of Gears and Sera. That's if we're even returning to Sera at all. Following the events of the trilogy both mankind and the world itself is pretty ravaged and pushed to the brink. There's every chance a new Gears could take place on a new planet with Marcus and co. looking to set up shop for all mankind. Fighting to clear out a space just to survive instead of defending one? Now that would be a pretty cool new angle - and a reverse on the Locust's history - for a game like Gears to take.
