Ghost Recon: Wildlands - 10 Things We Learned From The Beta

1. There's Lots Of Potential For Something Special

In many ways, Wildlands typifies the tenets of the Ghost Recon franchise. It's bold, tactical, and, in its attempts to deliver fully on the promise of the series, has laid the foundations for a Clancy-verse saga befitting of the author's bombastic bibliography.

It has its flaws, that much is true, but I have to concede that it's not without its charm. If the industry has taught us anything recently it's that co-op titles are hard to come by and indeed, are actively disregarded in favour of multiplayer experiences. Certainly, for fans of older Clancy titles like Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell and Rainbow 6, that's a hard reality to swallow. Indeed, I know that for me, my love of online gaming stemmed from co-op escapades in Advanced Warfighter, linking up with the title's community to tackle challenging scenarios and work my way through the vast array of content that title had to offer. Wildlands might not capture the essence of that experience entirely, but it does at least try and bring it forth into the modern industry, complete with an impressive display of visual fireworks to boot.

Simply put, I'm very much looking forward to Wildlands' release, with the caveat that it's obvious the title is still a definite work in progress. I can only hope that it does for co-op what Siege has done for multiplayer.
