God Of War: 10 Awesome Rare Items You Totally Missed

1. Forbidden Grip Of The Ages (Axe Pommel)

The Item: A super-secret axe pommel that was only recently discovered, Forbidden Grip Of The Ages maxes out at Level 5 and increases all of Kratos' stats; Strength by 12, and the rest by 10.

That alone would make it worth using, but the pommel also adds a concussive wave to the end of the R1 combo (read: mash R1), that knocks enemies back.

How To Get It: This is by far the most sneakily-hidden item God Of War has to offer. To get it, head to the Muspelheim tower in the Lake Of Nine (start at the Lookout Tower sub-area and climb up from there).

Once you get to the tower, head through the giant doors. You'll find a mystic gateway on your right. Stand in the centre of the gold circle on the floor, and use the camera stick to look in a specific sequence of directions:

Centre, Left, Centre, Right, Left, Centre, Down, Right, Left, Centre.

The below image is your starting point.

For clarification, "Centre" means Tyr's Temple (pictured), "Left" means the left brazier, "Right" means the right brazier, and "Down" means the floor. You'll hear a gong sound halfway through the directions to indicate you're doing it right.

Just run back to the doors and come back to the circle if you mess up - you don't have to actually open the doors, like a lot of other guides state. When the sequence is complete, a Realm Tear will open in front of you, which contains the pommel. Happy killing!

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
