God Of War 2: Ragnarok Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Want To See

9. New Enemy Types

While Ragnarok likely won't be a re-invention of the wheel like its predecessor, that's no excuse to not add a fresh roster of Viking themed meatsacks to hack through.

One of GOW's biggest strengths was in its diversity of enemies and tactical depth of the encounters. Santa Monica managed to keep things fresh with its regular enemies right up until the later stages of the game, introducing new types of Draugr, Elves and Lost Souls regularly to keep things fresh.

This is a feature that must continue in the sequel for it to be successful. Considering the combat makes up up around two thirds of the game (the other third being watching the awkward bonding between Kratos and Atreus), chucking the same enemies at players for a sequel will quickly become stale.

Still, with new weapons and locations, this should be easy to do, and looking at Santa Monica's track record when it comes to imaginative and challenging fights, Ragnarok is in good hands.

A more diverse rota would also be a way to build on the mini boss criticisms of GOW. Fighting a troll boss is cool. Fighting fourteen clones of the tutorial boss is more of an endurance exercise.
