God Of War 2018: 9 Subtly Genius Easter Eggs You Totally Missed
1. One-Eyed Kratos
Two wood carvings fashioned to fit the likeness of Kratos and Atreus can be spotted in the lower right corner of God of War's main menu. At first glance, their presence is presumably nothing but screen dressing, but look closer - the effigy of Kratos is missing the eye in its left socket.
Anyone who's seen God of War's end credits knows that Kratos reaches Jötunheim with his peepers intact, so it's not a cheeky allusion to events that transpire in-game, but what about further afield?
Given that a certain ruler of Asgard is famously missing his left eye and that Kratos is depicted mimicking certain events associated with Odin - lugging around Mimir's severed head, for example - are we expected to believe Kratos is, in fact, Odin, or is Santa Monica simply deploying diversionary tactics?
Only Cory Barlog and the rest of his team hold the answers, so we'll just have to wait for the inevitable sequels to find out what, if any, significance the dolls hold.
