4. God Of War
The game that started it all. The first God of War will always be remembered as one of the PS2's greatest games, but that doesn't stop it from having aged pretty poorly over time.
Once revolutionary, the combat of the first God of War has now unfortunately paled in comparison to other games in the series. Even then, for the game to have introduced a combat system that still holds up pretty damn well today is a pretty big achievement.
God of War also has some of the best levels in the whole series with the sections taking place in the Underworld and against the Hydra being some of the franchises most memorable moments.
The fact of the matter is that despite how badly it's managed to age in thirteen years, the God of War franchise, Sony and hack and slash games in general wouldn't be where they are without this game. It's a monumentally important title in gaming, and that can't be forgotten.
