7. Cops Bob Their Heads As An Homage To British Police Officers (AKA "Bobbies")
Despite the strictly American setting of the GTA franchise - save for the cult classic London 1969 expansion pack - there's been an unmistakably British sense of humour cutting through the series since its inception.
And that's felt in one especially subtle way in the original game, particularly with regard to how the police officers are animated.
Though GTA's top-down perspective makes it easily missed, the cops in fact chase after the player while their head bobs up and down in a repeated motion.
This wasn't merely a goofy affectation on the part of the developers, but a pointed nod to how British police officers are historically nicknamed "bobbies."
