Yesterday, a report surfaced revealing that Grand Theft Auto VI is indeed in the early stages of development. That's definitely good news, but many fans were left disappointed, especially as there have been rumblings about a reveal of some sort being imminent. Instead, it's apparent that we're going to be waiting at least another two or three years to get our hands on this one.

Rockstar taking their time is no bad thing, of course, especially if it results in a masterpiece up there with Red Dead Redemption 2. Throw in the fact that GTA VI will be able to take advantage of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X's enhanced technology, and it really could end up being something special.

However, looking back at the amazing legacy of this franchise, there are clearly some changes which need to be made to ensure that the next Grand Theft Auto game not only beats what came before, but also delivers a truly epic and immersive experience. With that in mind, we're now taking a look at ten things we must see in the next game and how those will ensure to get a true classic.

GTA V was amazing, but there are lessons which can be learned from both that and RDR2, and these are all absolutely essential changes to the franchise...

10. Actions Have Consequences

A highlight of Red Dead Redemption 2 was that even the most minor actions (letting someone die or perhaps sparing someone you probably should have killed) would often come back to haunt you. This happened while exploring the world too, and not just in scripted missions which would then create branching storylines.

Did you choose to let that guy fall from the cliff fairly early on in the game? Well, relatives of his would later hunt you down seeking revenge, something which helped make it feel like this was a world you weren't just playing in, but actually living in.

In Grand Theft Auto games, we're all guilty of getting bored and causing chaos, but why not make that matter more this time? Rather than simply being chased down by the police, what if the guy you decided to beat up comes and finds you with some friends of his? Remember that car you ran off the road? Well, they've spotted you, and they're now going to do the same in return!

This would have to be handled well to stop it from becoming tedious, but with the right balance, it could be downright awesome.
