Grand Theft Auto 6 - 10 Things We Must See

3. A Present Day Setting

Grand Theft Auto Online
Rockstar

We alluded to this while talking about Vice City, but a present day setting for Grand Theft Auto VI is essential. Sure, there's something to be said about revisiting decades like the 70s or 80s, but we've been there and done that, and it limits the gameplay possibilities in too many ways. Remember how much fun it was trying online dating in GTA IV or getting assassination missions in GTA V?

A present day setting would give Rockstar the chance to parody everything from President Donald Trump to the world's obsession with social media, and we can still get that retro feel thanks to radio stations and the like.

Having the game take place today also opens the door to a larger range of vehicles and weapons, and this is another reason it would be good to revisit somewhere like Vice City because seeing how a location like that has evolved brings with it a tonne of storytelling potential. What we wouldn't want, though, is a jump into the distant or even near future!
