7. A Return To London
It's been almost two decades since the Grand Theft Auto series took us to London, and even then it was only via an expansion pack to the original.
A return to the Big Smoke is one of the earliest rumours surrounding GTA 6's setting, and it was a persistent one, refusing to die for a good while.
Rockstar's Dan Houser addressed the matter in a 2013 interview with The Guardian, downplaying the UK capital as a possible backdrop for the next game.
"I think for us, my gut feeling is, GTA London was cool for the time, but games were more limited then. These days I think we would love to set a game in the UK, set in London, whatever, but I don't know if it would be a GTA game. I think there are plenty of great stories we could tell about the UK, great environments to showcase, great gameplay mechanics that could have a UK bent to them – I just don't think it would be a GTA necessarily."
Setting GTA 6 in London would differentiate it from every other 3D entry in the series, but Houser's comments suggest the rumour should be filed under potential BS.
But a London-themed expansion pack would be cool, wouldn't it?
