Grand Theft Auto V: 5 Skyrim Features That Should Be Included

3. Unlimited Exploration

One of Skyrim's biggest features was the ability to play the game anyway you liked. "The legendary freedom of choice", they called it. Its expansive map was available for exploration from the moment you popped in the disc, you could go anywhere and do anything. Veterans of the Grand Theft Auto series however will know that Rockstar have used the total opposite approach in the past. The terrain has usually been divided into three different islands, with bridges and transport to each closed down because of "hurricane warnings" etc. These bridges would then open once the player had completed a set number of missions, until eventually all of the terrain was fully explorable. Some might say there is a certain feeling of reward after unlocking a new part of the map. Certainly, during my days of playing GTA, I would be thrilled to have unlocked a new island to explore, but on the flip side, I would quite often be frustrated if I got stuck on a mission, and was left staring at the possibility of never being able to explore the whole map. Now, if I am going to buy a game, I want to be able to play it in its entirety, not in stages. That's why I love Skyrim so. I believe that in GTA V, all of the terrain should be available to explore regardless of mission completion. I also believe that incorporating Bethesda's feature of letting us ignore missions and quests and just get down to exploring would make GTA a much better franchise. We have seen the screenshots, we know how fabulous and expansive the terrain looks; just let us explore it our way please.
