7. A 70's Setting

As it stands, the 70s are one of the only major decades in entertainment history yet to be tapped for a GTA game. We've had everything from 60s punk in GTA London to 2010s social media-dominated sensationalism in GTA V, but 70s flare would go down a treat.

The above image is from a mod, but as a time period, 70s ephemera clearly suits GTA's open-world sensibilities. This decade saw the rise of some of music's all-time best bands: Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Aerosmith and Deep Purple, to name only a handful, with attitudes towards race and political controversy being a hotbed for Rockstar's brand of scriptwriting.

Both GTA IV and V looked to be ditching the idea of focusing on specific time periods in favour of a consistently modern look, but reversing all of that and going back to before Vice City would be just as welcome.
