GTA 6: 10 Major GTA 5 Problems It Must Fix

2. Atrocious NPC AI

For all of its achievements, GTA V's NPC AI is shockingly lackluster, both as its pertains to the police and general folk you encounter throughout Los Santos.

Compared to GTA IV, which had NPCs react organically to the world, GTA V's AI routines feel very obviously robotic and programmed - it's always clear they're following a set path.

In GTA IV it was common to see pedestrians pull out an umbrella when it starts raining and the police chase down random NPCs, but GTA V largely lacks this dynamic level of detail.

Beyond that, the hyper-aggressive police AI feels less-refined than in the fourth game, citizens can't drive worth a damn, and enemies have supernaturally precise aiming when firing upon you.

It's possible that GTA V's AI was neutered due to tech limitations upon its original release, much like the game's nerfed physics, but if GTA VI is truly going to feel like the series' most persuasive living, breathing world yet, it really needs to do better.

Given that Red Dead Redemption 2's NPCs rank among gaming's very best, though, it's fairly easy to believe they'll nail it this time.
