GTA 6: 10 Reasons Vice City Is The Perfect Location

8. Vice City Needs To Exist Outside The Definitive Edition

The rocky start to The Trilogy's Definitive Edition release has many fans frustrated, and as such a beloved series is placed under the microscope. In fact, it's hard to believe that the offering was worthy of the games' legacy.

Visually, the remaster is inconsistent. Though textures are improved (albeit slightly), lighting is overhauled and controls are modernised, the character models are ugly and glitches are aplenty. It's a profoundly underwhelming return to the crowning trilogy, and as the series' legacy is somewhat tainted by the release, the perfect remedy to the issue would, once again, to be to lean into nostalgia.

As Liberty City was somewhat boring, and San Andreas succeeded it, Vice City is the most beloved to most of us. It's imperfect, sure, but was a monstrous success at a time when 3D, open worlds were merely a fleeting idea. The fictional world deserves better than what was presented in 2021, so returning would surely wash out the mediocre taste of the remaster.

It would be a sad world indeed if the sorry state of The Trilogy: Definitive Edition is truly the best way to experience the hustle of Vice City.
