GTA 6: 10 Reasons Vice City Is The Perfect Location
5. Development Time Differences
The development philosophy of Rockstar Games has shifted greatly over the last two decades.
A company that was once more than happy to churn out genre-defining games on an annual basis is now focused far more on crafting the perfect, immersive experience using any means necessary.
Such means are often time, and though each and every Rockstar release is an industry-halting event, they are so few and far between. The wait from Grand Theft Auto V to Red Dead Redemption II was five years, and as we're three years removed from the latter and there's been no word on their next release, it's safe to assume we have at least a couple more years to wait.
Conversely, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was developed in just nine months.
Vice City is nowhere near as polished as its contemporary counterparts, and giving the five-year treatment to such an aesthetically pleasing setting could provide the immersion that Rockstar so badly aim to achieve.
If one of the PlayStation 2's greatest games can be made in such a short amount of time, imagine how amazing a game that takes six times longer to develop could be.
