GTA 6: 10 Things It Must Do BETTER Than 5
10. Strike A Balance Between Single And Multiplayer Content Post-Launch
As mentioned in the introduction, Rockstar initially planned more story content for GTA V, yet over time, as the online component gathered a ridiculous amount of steam, we saw members of their own design team discussing how development shifted towards multiplayer add-ons, rather than anything more narrative focused.
That said, GTA has long had a problem with story content - in that the majority of players tend to rocket through the main missions... and never play them again. Simply because the average GTA campaign comprises hours upon hours of cutscenes, missions and side-missions, once it's in the bag, that's you done forever.
Combatting this would be something like bitesized "story packs" picking up on where characters like Michael, Trevor, Franklin etc. are at, post-credits (if they're still alive), but it stands to reason that in focusing so much on GTA: Online, the story/character-side of things has been forgotten about.
Here's a thought for you as we go forward: When you think of GTA now, is it narrative and single player moments that come to mind, or freewheeling, multiplayer anarchy?
The answer to that question on a mass scale, will dictate what Rockstar end up doing.
