GTA 6: 8 Current Gaming Trends Rockstar Must AVOID

6. Games As A Service

Look, I get it. I get that game budgets are exorbitantly humungous and endlessly fluctuating across years' worth of dev time as ideas are scrapped or finalised, but how many GaaS releases actually work?

Your Apex Legends, Warframes and Fortnites fly the flag nicely, but for every one of those there's an Anthem or a PUBG slowly season pass'ing itself into an early grave. Even Apex Legends attempted to bolt on a "battle pass", only to tank its former goodwill when people realised arbitrary stat-tracking goals aren't worth any amount of money.

Point being: GTA Online already is a GaaS in everything but price point, i.e. All expansions are free and you're only optionally paying for Shark Cards, but when the overall product is such phenomenal value for money, you have to wonder if those at the top aren't pushing for more overt monetisation.
