GTA 6: 9 Things It Must Learn From GTA V
5. Keep The Multi-Protagonist System
The three-protagonist system in GTA V really shouldn't have worked as well as it did. No prior game in the industry had attempted any multiple-protagonist system in such a fashion, yet Rockstar tried it once and succeeded with flying colors.
Each character was given plenty of substance and time to develop, leading to each of them being interesting and engaging. What'll be vital in the sequel is that each protagonist continues to get equal representation in the campaign, or they may end up becoming irrelevant in the overall narrative.
There's certainly no substitute for great characters, and the multi-protagonist system promotes balanced character development and variance in personality types. Trevor's unpredictability, Michael's hot-tempered nature and Franklin's relaxed nature mixed together to provide a perfect blend of chaos.
If GTA VI can utilize the multi-protagonist system in a similar sense, there's no denying that the system will remain a massive hit with players (and will likely motivate other developers to try it out in their own franchises).
