GTA 6: THIS Is The Perfect Setting
Vice City Would Be Awesome...
Currently, the most popular assumption is that the next game is going to be set in Vice City. Not only do some rumours point towards that being the case, but judging off the past releases, it's the next setting in line to be tackled. So far, every instalment since the PS2 games have revisited the locations established across that era. GTA IV returned to Liberty City, GTA V expanded on San Andreas, leaving Vice City as the only PS2 era title without a 'HD' upgrade.
More so than that though, Vice City has arguably more potential for the developers to change, tweak and surprise players with in a modern update. As mentioned, the PS2 game it featured in was set in the 80s, and everything from the cars to the music to the fashion indulged in that period. With this game, it wasn't just the where that was important, but the when.
Consequently, there is so much scope for the devs when it comes to transforming that location and updating it to a contemporary time period. Fans would be pouring over the comparisons: which stores had been left untouched, which areas gentrified, how the personality of the entire place had been altered over the years. It's a specific element of intrigue that a brand new setting simply wouldn't have.
Vice City has history. And playing into that history has so many tantalising possibilities.
With such a desire from fans to see it then, and so many creative ways to update and adapt it, it would be the equivalent of Rockstar missing an open goal in the World Cup final if the developer skipped Vice City entirely when constructing the next game.
