2. Better Melee Mechanics
Firefights or fist fights.
Sure, that last one might've sent a shiver running down your spine, because GTA has never been a series known for pugilism. Try to square off with an attacker in GTA 5 and you'd either awkwardly bash them to a pulp by hammering buttons or end up wrestling with jerky camera movements as your character punched thin air.
This is unacceptable nowadays. GTA's melee mechanics have always sucked, and they're woefully outdated next to other things players spend most of their time doing like shooting and driving. Rockstar's protagonists don't need to become Batman from the Arkham series, but they do need to become more handy without guns.
Wei Shen from Sleeping Dogs could be used as a template for one of the new characters (especially if they practice martial arts). His locked-on mechanics felt much less floaty than GTA's. It's crap that Rockstar still seem to be stuck in 2001 when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.
