GTA: San Andreas - 10 Reasons It's Still The Best In The Series
4. Gang Warfare
San Andreas is based on the real-world Los Angeles (even the name of the state is a reference to the real-life fault line) and many of the game's characters and events can be compared with those found within the city. A big example is with the gang culture found throughout San Andreas; the whole game revolves around it. The player is introduced to the Grove Street Families war with the Ballas from the very first mission and most of the first section of the game revolves around CJ's re-integration into the gang. Eventually, the player unlocks Gang Warfare - a gameplay feature which allows CJ and the Grove Street to capture enemy territory and claim it for their own. This has a variety of advantages but most importantly, it gives CJ a source of income at his house; the more territories captured, the greater his income is. To acquire territory, CJ has to kill a number of gang members in a specific area, triggering a Gang War. Here, multiple waves of enemy gang members spawn and bid to defend their territory by killing you; surviving all waves and eliminating all opposition will see that area of the map turn a nice shade of green. Some may regard it as a pointless inclusion but Gang Warfare really helps tap into the idea of real-world gang conflicts, albeit in GTA's crazy over-emphasised world.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
