GTA Trilogy Remake: 10 Missions We Can't Wait To Play (& 10 We're DREADING)

13. Dreading: S.A.M - GTA 3

Fun fact for you, S.A.M in this case is actually short for Seriously Agonising Mission.

Ok, it's not really (Surface to Air Missile, if you're wondering). But the name still stands as incredibly accurate.

In S.A.M, GTA 3's Claude must take down a seaplane using a rocket launcher. Again, on paper, sounds all well and good. But with GTA 3's aiming mechanics and a very, very small window of opportunity to actually shoot the plane it rapidly descends into misery.

The problem is the plane is very much a fast moving target, and the rocket launcher requires precision to hit it. There's no auto aim here; you must take into account the plane's speed, where you're standing and calculate how long it'll take the rocket to actually hit it.

Amazingly, one of the best ways to actually hit the thing is to stand smack-bang in the middle of the runway and shoot a rocket at it just before it splats you into the ground.

If you manage to actually hit the thing, you then need to gather a load of packages and flee from the police (a four star wanted level!).

Fingers crossed somehow Rockstar has made this one less agonising in the Definitive Edition.
