GTA V: 10 Iconic Moments That Defined The Series

5. The GTA III Intro

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoQStKto_n4 Grand Theft Auto III was a legendary game, and its opening iconic. The slow and dramatic music, with its jazzy/bluesy sound, sets the tone wonderfully, before we see our protagonist, Claude, and associate Catalina fleeing on foot after robbing a bank. Sadly for Claude, Catalina is a devious, treacherous woman, as she turns round suddenly and pops a bullet in him, leaving him for dead. After being caught by the police and arrested, we see Claude travelling along the Callahan Bridge in the back of a van in a prison convoy, which is hijacked by a Colombian gang, who promptly blow up the bridge, separating the only access to Staunton from Portland. This intro sets up a variety of themes that would later become prevalent in the series. Claude's thirst for revenge would be shared by future protagonists, while the islands being separated by a pre-scripted event, and unlocked later in the game, was a feature that existed right up until GTA V.
